What a dream! I worked with Liz of the Liz Lidgett Gallery years ago and we’ve always stayed in touch. Since then she’s opened a really chic, modern art gallery in Des Moines, Iowa. I’ve been hoping to get involved for a few years but things just hadn’t aligned until this year when she invited me to be part of the Holiday Show for works under $500. My new abstract pieces fit the bill perfectly and I couldn’t wait to show them off through the Liz Lidgett Gallery.

Each piece is based off an interior design of a room that inspired me. You can see here side by side how I utilize the interior to inspire color and shape within the composition. Mostly I just take the feeling I’m getting from the room to inspire the abstract painting. It’s a very fun and freeing painting experience that utilizes my years of improvising to ‘yes and’ back and forth with the inspiration and the canvas to add and takeaway elements until I’m happy with the final composition.
